The night sky shines bright at the YeepengLanna International Lantern Festival in Chiang Mai

On the full moon night of the twelfth lunar month in northern Thailand, the nights in Chiang Mai are illuminated not only by the moon above but also by the annual Lantern Festival, where people light traditional Lanna lanterns and release them into the sky, letting them drift away with the wind. The sight of countless lanterns filling the sky is magnificent, offering visitors an unforgettable experience.

At Tudongkhasathan Lanna in Sansai, Chiang Mai, the Lantern Festival sees thousands of lanterns carrying hopes and peace float beautifully into the night sky, creating a dazzling spectacle. On November 9, 2011, the Tourism Authority of Thailand invited 1,000 visitors and international community members to join the event. Participants could enjoy a beautiful celebration deeply rooted in Thai Buddhist traditions and culture, as well as savor an authentic Kantok Lanna royal feast.
