The Sun Moon Lake Fireworks Music Carnival features a series of international performances in succession.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of China, the Sun Moon Lake International Fireworks Music Carnival presents "Symphony 100" to honor the national holiday, kicking off on October 8. Spanning seven weeks and featuring ten large-scale concerts and events, it includes internationally renowned orchestras and vocalists from both China and abroad, as well as grand operas and Taiwanese opera productions with tremendous impact. More uniquely, Sun Moon Lake will invite 300 members of the public to perform an extraordinary aquatic drama titled "Guan Yu Crossing the River to Attack Cao’s Army," which is expected to spark another tourism boom.

The centennial celebration runs from October 8 to November 19, featuring ten consecutive lakeside fireworks music concerts to jointly commemorate the occasion. Highlights include the Tang Mei-yun Taiwanese Opera Troupe’s performance of "A Thousand Autumns of Great Vows" on November 5 and 6 — this outstanding fusion of Eastern and Western styles, set to premiere at the National Theater at the end of October with tickets priced up to NT$3,000, will be performed for free at Sun Moon Lake. The closing show on November 19 is the grand finale "Blessing" 100th Anniversary Tribute, an epic musical piece titled "Blessing" commissioned by the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra from Austrian-based composer Shi Jie, who is listed in the "Austrian Who's Who." Moreover, the Sun Moon Lake Wenwu Temple, which enshrines Guan Yu as its main deity, has specially planned an action-packed martial arts event titled "Wenwu Celebrates the Centenary." On November 12, it will invite 300 tourists to take part, bringing the total participants to 1,000 for a dramatic reenactment of Guan Yu crossing the river to attack Cao Cao’s army. This large-scale, participatory performance is expected to become an unprecedented milestone in Taiwan’s tourism history—allowing visitors to become protagonists immersed in a historical setting.
