Located in the Neishuangxi mountain area of Shilin, Taipei, about a 10-minute drive from the National Palace Museum, the Listening to the Rain Pavilion is a true forest restaurant. When you step into the Listening to the Rain Pavilion, it’s hard to imagine you’re in bustling Taipei—and that’s exactly the philosophy behind the space envisioned by its owners. They preserved the outline of the original forest, infused it with modern lifestyle aesthetics, and added dishes made with local ingredients in collaboration with farmers, creating an open space where urban dwellers can temporarily escape the hustle and bustle.

The site of the Listening to the Rain Pavilion was originally a teahouse and also served as a filming location for famous Qiong Yao dramas like “Deep Courtyard.” In 2016, a group of passionate young people transformed it into an aesthetic project that blends nature and daily life. Covering about 1,500 pyeong (approximately 4,940 square meters), the space consists of 18 small wooden cabins ranging from 2–5 pyeong and three larger structures spanning 20–80 pyeong, which now serve as the restaurant kitchen and private dining rooms. Though small, the cozy wooden cabins are perfect for gatherings of friends, offering a private space to enjoy meals together.
