Eat for free and play to your heart's content with travel experts — enjoy Taichung without the need to enter a lottery.

Where can you try hand-pounded udon? Where can you paint your own violin clock? What’s the oldest building in Taichung? In November, the non-profit Taiwan Seen Foundation specially invited three travel experts — Liu Xiu-ying, Chen Dao-jie, and Kao Song-ming — to take both domestic and international travelers on a free tour of Taichung, exploring their hidden gem spots. Registration is now open to the public — no lottery or selection process required, and it’s first-come, first-served until full.

The event is divided into three sessions. Liu Xiu-ying, former food editor of Next Magazine and now a food columnist for CommonWealth Magazine, will take participants to savor exclusive Taichung delicacies on November 11 — including fresh seafood caught at sea by fishing boats, 100% handmade udon noodles, and a coffee lesson from Oh She Coffee, whose owner has served as a judge in multiple international coffee competitions. On November 18, Chen Dao-jie, chairman of the Taichung Art Park Boulevard Management Committee, will guide everyone in making their own violin clocks, then head to the Wellness Bank for a health-focused meal that refreshes body and mind, and finally explore the Zhongxin Market from a unique perspective.

The final session on November 25 will be led by history expert Kao Song-ming, who will provide insights into several important historical buildings from Taichung’s Japanese colonial period, such as the Taichung City Hall, the Taichung Martial Arts Field, and the Taichung City Government Building. The event is open to all members of the public, but priority registration will be given to foreign nationals. After the event, participants are required to write a 500-word reflection on the Central District International Light Spot Facebook fan page and upload 3 photos.
