A Tropical Rainforest Emerges in the Desert: Dubai Creates a New Jurassic Landmark

Always known for its stunning architecture, Dubai now has a new landmark in the works — an artificial rainforest the size of a football field to be created inside the Rosemont Hotel and Residences. Not only does it push the limits of modern technology, but it also overcomes the scorching desert climate to become a new global tourist attraction.

Opened in 2018, the Rosemont Hotel spans 560,000 pyeong (approximately 1.84 million square meters) and includes not just guest rooms, but also hotel amenities such as an artificial beach and a glass-bottom pool. The structure consists of twin towers standing 47 stories high. Additionally, an artificial rainforest and a large-scale water aquarium will be built at the center, with a level of luxury beyond imagination.

The rainforest covers approximately 2,100 pyeong (about 6,900 square meters). To maintain humidity and simulate rainfall, a 360-degree sensor-based humidification and precipitation system has been specially introduced. It is expected to host thousands of species of tropical plants and authentically recreate geographical features such as waterfalls, streams, shallow pools, and marshes. There will also be a rainforest walking adventure trail, allowing visitors and guests to immerse themselves in the experience — creating a unique hidden world reminiscent of Jurassic Park.
