Soak in a soothing, all-over rejuvenating "beauty bath" at Sichongxi Hot Springs

Sichongxi is located within Checheng Township, boasting the geographical advantage of being surrounded by mountains. It was discovered as early as during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty, and after the establishment of the Republic of China, it was ranked among Taiwan’s four famous hot springs, alongside Yangmingshan, Beitou, and Guanziling Hot Springs.

Today, there are over 10 hot spring hotels here, most built against the mountains. In addition to small yet refined hot spring inns, the area also includes internationally standard southern Taiwan resort hotels and the historic Chingchuan Hot Spring Villa that exudes vintage charm.

The hot spring source originates from the foothills of Shimu Mountain. Blessed by its mountain-surrounded location, the springs flow continuously. The mineral-rich waters leave your skin smooth and clean after bathing, earning the springs the nickname “beauty bath.” The water is colorless, odorless, crystal clear, suitable for both drinking and bathing, with temperatures averaging between 50 to 80 degrees Celsius.

Most hot spring lodgings here are built against the mountains, each offering unique bathing facilities—some with open-air hot spring pools, others highlighting spa and hydrotherapy amenities, and some focusing on private hot spring rooms. After a good night’s sleep, start your day with a relaxing soak, allowing every pore to be nourished by the thermal waters. You’ll emerge feeling thoroughly refreshed and energized.

The hot spring area itself is not large. Aside from the scattered hot spring hotels, most shops are concentrated along the old street on Hot Spring Road. When visiting for a soak, besides picking up some red-heart duck eggs as souvenirs, don’t miss the refined medicinal cuisine made with organic and naturally produced ingredients, the fresh and delicious fish and shrimp from the streams, and the tasty hot spring vegetables.

Location: From National Freeway 1 (Zhongshan Highway), exit at the terminus, turn left onto Provincial Highway 17 toward Kenting. Pass through Xiaogang Airport, Linbian, and Shuidi Liao, then connect to Provincial Highway 1 via Fenggang, and continue south on Provincial Highway 26 to Checheng Township. Turn left onto County Highway 199 to reach Sichongxi Hot Springs.
