Chef Ah Ji’s “Happiness in Cooking” Lecture Kicks Off in Chishang, Taitung

Hosted by the Taiwan Good Foundation, the Winter Harvest Lecture on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 2:30 PM will feature Chef Cheng Yen-chi (Ah Ji), Executive Chef of Fullon Hotels, who will share “Happiness in Cooking” at the Fuyuan Elementary School Activity Center (No. 17 Zhonghua Road, Chishang Township, Taitung County). Admission is free.

This time, Chef Ah Ji isn’t in Chishang to teach cooking, but to share his life philosophy, talk about his work attitude, and recount the ups and downs behind delicious dishes. With over 40 years in the industry, Chef Ah Ji, despite holding the prestigious title of National Chef and winning this year’s Golden Bell Award for Best Variety Show Host, remains as humble as ever. His unwavering passion for serving the public is inspiring, and many can learn from his outlook on life.

The Taiwan Good Foundation’s “Four Seasons Activities,” aligned with traditional farming schedules—include the “Spring Plowing Picnic Festival,” inviting visitors to enjoy rice snacks on the grassy shores of Dapo Pond while listening to live band performances with the lake as their backdrop; the “Chishang Summer Rice Banquet,” combining the culinary skills of local moms with the creativity of five-star chefs to host a unique community feast and welcome artists who reside in Chishang each year; the “Chishang Autumn Harvest Concert,” held on the endless rice fields along Brown Boulevard, featuring national-level music ensembles performing with golden rice stalks as their stage, showcasing the most harmonious and breathtaking collaboration between humans and nature; and “Winter Harvest,” which focuses on lectures by experts and masters.
