Taitung County Government is grateful for everyone’s enthusiastic support and participation in the “Taitung Sightseeing Theme Tour Bus.” During the holiday period, it has specially launched the “Holiday Sightseeing Theme Tour Bus: Breathtaking Taitung Flower Fields Tour,” inviting everyone to share in the flower-filled beauty of Taitung. The event runs from now until February 15, 2012 (101 year 2 month 15 day), and for just 300 RMB per person, a private car will take you to experience Taitung’s enchanting flower fields and rural charm, as well as Hakka and indigenous cultures. You’ll also get to enjoy a classic Chihshang-style meal.

This themed tour bus departs around 9 AM and runs until evening. Visitors can immerse themselves in the beautiful natural surroundings of Taiwan’s hinterland, dance with the flowers, take memorable photos, and gain insight into the spirit of Eastern Hakka culture through local architecture and lifestyles. You can also enjoy the fresh pastoral scenery with the cattle and sheep on the Taiwan Sugar grasslands, and visit the Du Jingzhi Memorial Garden (aka Du Garden). This landscape garden was funded by philanthropists Mr. and Mrs. Du Junyuan—who made their fortune in the electronics industry and hail from Chihshang Township—to honor the nurturing grace of Mr. Du Jingzhi and Mrs. Wang Yuan, and to give back to their hometown. It features expansive lawns and a collection of over 100 varieties of precious medicinal herbs for public learning and research.

After enjoying a delicious lunch in Chihshang, continue your visit to the Bunun Cultural Museum and the “Rice Country School,” a repurposed old rice mill and idle warehouse where visitors can experience rice culture firsthand and learn about the rice-making process.
