Spring Festival Travel Series Report (1) / Smart Parking at Taoyuan Airport with Credit Cards

How can you travel abroad for Spring Festival in the most cost-effective and convenient way to get to Taoyuan Airport for your flight? It’s time to make the most of the credit card in your wallet, as airport peripheral parking services are almost a standard perk offered by every credit card company, but be sure to note that if you want to use free airport peripheral parking, many banks require a Platinum card or higher tier to enjoy this service, and you must pay 80% of the group tour fee or the full airfare with the credit card. Some banks also require advance reservations; besides credit card services, you can also use the parking lot at the Aviation Science and Technology Museum near Taoyuan Airport, where parking fees are capped at NT$100 per day, with free shuttle service to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

The policies vary among banks, but generally, when you arrive at a parking lot partnered with your bank, you present your ID and swipe your credit card—for example, banks like ANZ, Cathay United Bank, and Fubon. After parking, a shuttle will take you to the airport, and upon returning, you notify the parking lot by phone for pickup. However, some banks require advance reservations to enjoy the free service; otherwise, parking on-site without a reservation or exceeding the free parking period will incur a preferential cardholder rate, usually between NT$90–150, with prices varying depending on the card type and parking lot. Banks that require advance reservations include Taishin, CTBC, and E.SUN.
Most banks stipulate that only Platinum cardholders or above can enjoy the free airport peripheral parking benefit, and the higher the credit card tier, the more advantageous the free parking offer. However, there are exceptions—Cathay United Bank offers even Standard cardholders 3 days of free parking per year, with no limit on the number of times.

For those coming to pick up passengers and needing temporary parking, vehicles entering Parking Lot 1 (Departures), Parking Lot 2 (Arrivals) at Terminal 1, and Terminal 2 parking lots at Taoyuan Airport enjoy the first 30 minutes free. Parking Lot 1 at Terminal 1 will also reopen on January 15. Additionally, a little-known perk is that the Aviation Science and Technology Museum parking lot offers the first hour of parking free for vehicles that exit within 60 minutes, and its parking rates are also lower than those at Taoyuan Airport—NT$20 for every two hours for passenger cars, with a daily maximum of NT$100.
