Mazu Parade and Hakka "Noon Feast" in Hsinchu’s Beibu for Prayers and Peace

From today until February 12, the Citian Temple in Beibu Township, Hsinchu County, is holding the long-awaited "Noon Feast" event of the Daya Three-Townships God-Welcoming Festival. The main event begins at 7:00 AM on Saturday (the 11th), during which the temple’s Guanyin Bodhisattva and Mazu will be paraded around the "Daya Region" (comprising Beibu, Emei, and Baoshan townships) to pray for favorable weather and peace for the local people. During the parade, the distinctive traditional custom of "Noon Feast" will take place, where locals prepare their signature dishes and set up roadside banquet tables filled with various Hakka cuisines to treat the parade participants and attendees. There will also be traditional folk performances known as "Welcoming Antiques," where 80 troupes march in a carnival-like procession alongside the deities.

Additionally, during the event period, the Sunking Drama Troupe will perform Hakka opera in front of Citian Temple, and there will be exhibition booths selling local agricultural specialties such as citrus fruits, Oriental Beauty tea, and persimmon cakes. As the桶柑 (mandarin oranges) are now in peak season, customers purchasing 20 jin or more will receive a free LED citrus-shaped lamp (limited to 200 units, while supplies last).
