With a long history, Chan Garden’s main building was once the New Highland Hotel during the Japanese colonial period. It later served as a Japanese officers’ club and a hospitality venue for the Kamikaze special attack force. After the Republic of China era began, it became the place where the Young Marshal Zhang Xueliang was placed under house arrest. Even after being converted into a restaurant, the original layout has been preserved. Owner Liang Yuxiang has also specially designed the “Young Marshal Set Menu,” which has become one of the restaurant’s highlights. Coupled with its location on Yangmingshan in Beitou, offering a sweeping view of Taipei’s cityscape, it has become a popular spot for outings and group meals. For this year’s Valentine’s Day, the restaurant has launched a “Love Forever Package.” For two people on 2/14, enjoy two “Grand Marshal Mansion Tradition Set Menus,” one luxury hot spring room (1 hour), plus a choice of two glasses of red or white wine for just NT$5,399.
