Group hiking tour to experience Penghu’s pristine beauty by cycling around the island

The “2012 Walk to Penghu Riding the Wind,” the first-ever coastal hiking route planned by the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration (Penguan) and the non-profit Taiwan Marine Environment Education Promotion Association, will kick off on March 11 for a nine-day island-wide journey. To deeply experience Penghu’s diverse, rich, and beautiful coastal intertidal landscapes, be sure to sign up before March 7.

The event is planned so that participants will arrive in Penghu gradually starting March 10, and begin a coastal hiking loop around Huxi Township, Baisha Township, Siyu Township, Pengnan District, and Magong City on March 11 (Sunday).

To showcase the maritime enthusiasm of the people of Penghu, Penguan has specially arranged for local residents to join in the celebration, participating in the pledge ceremony and walking activities starting at 8 a.m. on March 11 (Sunday). The day’s itinerary includes: Aimen Beach (gathering point) → Lindo Beach → Longmen Intertidal Zone → Longmen Lizhengjiao → Longmen Houwan → Ye Ye Intertidal Zone → Ye Ye Sunset Viewing Platform, covering a distance of about 10 kilometers (approximately 3 hours), with a bus ride back to Aimen Beach after the hike. Penguan stated that considering the distance and safety factors related to the nature of the activity, participants from the local community are preferably 16 years of age or older. During the event, each participant will be covered by a NT$2 million liability insurance, and after the pledge ceremony, each participant will also receive one sun hat and one lunch box.
