2017 Japan cherry blossom forecast released: Tokyo blooms earliest, Osaka at its most beautiful in early April

The Japan Meteorological Agency first released its cherry blossom blooming forecast for this year on the 18th, with Tokyo expected to see the earliest blooms, around March 22nd, and reach full bloom by the end of March.

The Japan Meteorological Agency stated that this year cherry blossoms in the eastern part of Japan are expected to bloom earlier than usual, while those in the northern part will bloom around the same time as previous years. However, in Kyushu, due to colder weather starting from last autumn, the blooming period is expected to be slightly delayed compared to usual.

According to the forecast, Tokyo’s cherry blossoms will bloom on March 22nd, with Nagoya and Fukuoka following on March 23rd, reaching full bloom around April 1st. Osaka will be at its most beautiful around April 4th, while Sendai will bloom later, with full bloom expected around April 15th.
