Battlefield Newspaper Artifacts Unveil Secrets as "Eagle Daily" Surfaces at Dongyin Brigade History Museum

Besides must-visit attractions in Dongyin such as the Dongyin Distillery, Dongyong Lighthouse, and the Nation’s Northern Frontier, the nearby Dongyin Brigade History Museum adjacent to the Antung Tunnel is also set to open to the public. The museum houses wartime artifacts, documents, and numerous precious photos from the establishment of the Anti-Communist National Salvation Army, including equipment used during the war, offering the public a chance to glimpse the mysterious face of the Anti-Communist National Salvation Army.

Located in Dongyin Township, the Dongyin Brigade History Museum was established in 1963 and relocated to its current site in 1980. It is divided into three exhibition halls. The main hall displays a portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, a statue of General Chiang Kai-shek, and the office furniture and resting furniture used in Chiang’s guesthouse. The decoration of the Republic of China flag on the ceiling gives visitors a strong sense of military history and battlefield ambiance upon entering the museum.

The Fujian and Jiangsu-Zhejiang Anti-Communist National Salvation Army, which participated in operations such as the Songmen Assault, Nanyu Island Assault, and the Battle of Dachen Island, merged in 1960 to form the "Army Anti-Communist National Salvation Army," with its headquarters established in Dongyin, which is also the predecessor of today’s Army Dongyin Regional Command. The left hall of the brigade history museum focuses on the origins, development, and organizational changes of the Anti-Communist National Salvation Army. It also displays equipment used during assault operations and various wartime artifacts personally signed by officers, soldiers, and residents. Portraits of former commanders are also exhibited in this area.

The Dongyin Regiment History Museum is currently still within a military-controlled area and has not been officially opened to the public. It is currently only available for reservation visits by Taiwanese citizens. For opening hours and reservation procedures, please contact the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration at 0836-25631.
