New Highlight at Dapeng Bay ~ Ao Yue Long Ting

Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area has a new highlight: one of the four auxiliary lanterns from this year’s Lukang Lantern Festival, “Ao Yue Long Ting,” has been beautifully reinstalled by the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, MOT, along the shores of Dapeng Bay, offering those who missed the festival a chance to admire its beauty.

Standing 18 meters tall with a base width of 7 meters and weighing a total of 5.5 metric tons, “Ao Yue Long Ting” is installed at the Binwan Square on the Nanping section of the Dapeng Bay Ring Road, not far from the Pengwan Cross-Sea Bridge. The lantern is illuminated three times daily at 7 PM, 8 PM, and 9 PM for 15 minutes each time for public viewing. The Dapeng Bay Administration noted that the creative concept of “Ao Yue Long Ting” is inspired by the legend of the carp leaping through the Dragon Gate, transforming into a dragon and ascending to the heavens to bring life-giving rain to the people. The dragon symbolizes cosmic power and a noble mission, representing good fortune, harmony, longevity, and nobility, as well as the most virtuous spirit. “Ao Yue Long Ting” signifies the continuous advancement of the people and a bright future, while also symbolizing favorable weather and national prosperity.

The Dapeng Bay Administration reminds visitors that since the surface of the lantern is made of canvas and is highly susceptible to damage, everyone is encouraged to take care and refrain from throwing stones or hard objects, so that all can continue to enjoy this artistic creation.
