40-meter water surface aerial projection: Kaohsiung Lantern Festival’s Magic Light Spectacle Debuts

The 2018 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival Art Festival draws inspiration from international lighting concepts, combining imagery of the Year of the Dog with festive lanterns from various countries to create unique fairy tales for each nation. Characteristic dogs from around the world will appear in the form of lanterns and fairy tale stories along the Love River.

The highlight of the opening ceremony on February 18th at 6 PM utilizes the distinctive waterscape of the Love River, different from other lantern festivals, to create a 40-meter-wide aerial water projection. It will integrate light and shadow effects with laser lighting to present a spectacular 6-minute Magic Light Fantasy Show, offering a one-of-a-kind performance along the Love River.

In addition to various creative lantern zones, there is also a 100-meter-long lantern sea tunnel made up of four thousand lanterns.The Kaohsiung Lantern Festival debuts with floating lantern decorations for the first time, featuring large whale and jellyfish lanterns floating above the Love River. The whale lantern symbolizes Kaohsiung’s new landmark—the Ocean Culture and Popular Music Center (nicknamed the “Sea Music Little Whale”)—and is accompanied by adorable moon jellyfish drifting through the sky, creating a 3D lantern experience spanning land, river, and sky.

Over a hundred adorable little dogs are running along the banks of the Love River—whether sitting, lying down, or hugging hearts, they are all incredibly cute and perfectly themed.

The “Open-Air Bar Street” along the Love River is the Love River Rhapsody Bar Zone, featuring open-air bars decorated by well-known beverage brands such as Heineken, Taiwan Beer, Budweiser, Dagou Beer, craft beer, and Zhifula Fruit Beer.
