The expansive scenery along the Hsinchu coastal area is perfect for a leisurely visit in the transition between spring and summer, helping you shake off the gloom of winter and rainy days. Why not set aside a day to enjoy cycling and making your own rice noodles? But when you arrive, it’s recommended to first have a hearty meal at the popular local “Old Home Noodle House,” then rent a bike from the Giant Nanliao Shop, embark on a relaxing afternoon ride, follow it with a hands-on rice noodle-making experience, and end the day perfectly at “Spring Garden Café”!

Although it’s a common noodle house, its exterior, pieced together with solid wood boards, has a modern Japanese feel. Inside, the spacious space, based on wooden tables and stools, features traditional farming baskets, old fans, telephones, and other items hanging on the walls and shelves. On the wall in the innermost corner, there’s also a mural of an old street—proof of the owner’s dedication.

Zhang, the boss who is very interested in cooking, went to a five-star hotel to learn after being discharged from the military and also ran a Chinese restaurant in the United States for nearly six years. Realizing the economic downturn, he opened an affordable noodle house with the concept that you can eat noodles for just 50 NT dollars. Hidden within the seemingly ordinary menu are the boss’s years of accumulated exclusive cooking skills.
