“Sea View of Dongyin” Sets Sail on June 2 to Showcase the Northern Coastline

Dongyin, the northernmost island of Matsu located in the country’s far north, is renowned for its spectacular coastline. The annual “Sea View of Dongyin” event, organized by the Dongyin Township Office, is back in full swing. This year’s tour will run from June 2 to August, sailing along Dongyin’s island loop route to offer visitors a unique perspective of the island from the sea.

The “Sea View of Dongyin” activity generally sets sail on even-numbered weeks (excluding Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Boats depart at 5 PM from Zhongzhu Harbor, with each ticket priced at 200 NTD (half price for those aged 65 and above or under 12). Each trip is accompanied by a guide and includes designated commentary stops. Luo Shijin, section chief of the Dongyin Township Office, noted that Dongyin’s coastline is filled with moving elements. In addition to unique geological landscapes such as Mouse Sand and Twin Reefs, viewing Dongyong Lighthouse from the sea under the sunset offers a truly special experience. Visitors coming to Dongyin this summer shouldn’t miss it.

To reach Matsu, you can take a Uni Air flight to Nangan or Beigan Airport, which takes about 50 minutes, then transfer to a boat to Dongyin. Alternatively, you can take the Taiwan-Matsu ferry from Keelung at night, with an approximately 8-hour voyage. The ferry is equipped with sleeper cabins.
