Dashincheng Ocean Culture Festival: Surfing, Long-Distance Swimming & Summer Fun

Northern surfing mecca—Dashincheng sees a surge of surfers along its coastline every scorching summer, creating a lively atmosphere. The Dashincheng Township Office will also hold a series of events for the "2012 Dashincheng Ocean Culture Tourism Festival" on June 9–10 at Kowloon-Hong Kong Beach, including the "Ocean Music Awards" featuring performances by artists and bands such as Wei Ruyun, Lu Jiali, Taiwan Shuang Band, and KING LADY. Activities will also include the Lanyang Sea Swim, beer drinking, and surfing competitions to beat the summer heat with cool ocean activities.

The Ocean Music Awards will feature performances by artists and bands such as Wei Ruyun, Lu Jiali, Taiwan Shuang Band, and KING LADY. The event will also include a "Farm and Fisheries Tourism Product Exhibition and Sales Fair" combining farms, homestays, and gourmet food, the Wushi Port surfing competition, and the "2012 Lanyang Sea Swim – Towards Turtle Mountain" with a thousand participants. Live street performances showcasing century-old skills, the "Hundred People Trawling" experience for beach fishing, free sandcastle tools for family sandcastle building, and an exhibition of Turtle Island fishing village artifacts are also planned. Additionally, the "International Paragliding Competition" will be held at Waiao Beach from June 12–18.

Additionally, free shuttle bus services will be available during the event, with routes including Dingpu–Wushi Port and Dashincheng–Shicheng. These buses will operate from Monday to Saturday, while the Yilan Express 131 bus will provide transport on weekends.
