In recent years, low-cost carriers have risen in popularity, and affordable airfare along with diverse flight options have become a travel choice for many. The aviation rating websiteAirlineRating.comhas evaluated low-cost airlines and selected the 10 safest ones, including Virgin America, Jetstar Australia, Aer Lingus, as well as Asia’s Hong Kong Express and Singapore’s Jetstar Asia.

According toBusiness Insider,although low-cost airlines have only been around for a few decades, their rapid growth in recent years has made them account for a quarter of the global aviation industry — a trend that cannot be ignored. In light of this, a globally renowned aviation rating website has selected 10 of the safest low-cost airlines, including Aer Lingus, Flybe, Hong Kong Express, JetBlue, Jetstar Australia, Jetstar Asia, Thomas Cook Airlines, Virgin America, Flybe, and WestJet.

All 10 low-cost airlines on the list have passed the more than 1,000 audit criteria and certifications of the International Air Transport Association’s Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), and they boast outstanding safety records. For instance, airlines on the list such as Jetstar Australia (under Qantas), Hong Kong Express, and JetBlue in the U.S. have had zero accidents since they began operations.
