From today (the 15th) for three consecutive days, from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM daily, the “Festival Home-Style Rice Food Carnival” will be grandly held around the Yuanshan Corridor next to Yuanshan MRT Station and the Flower Expo Food Mall. This event’s theme-focused cooked food area sees a major collaboration among vendors, offering inflation-busting treasures you can buy for just 20NT — including Songmai oil rice from Yongle Street, Auntie’s Wild Ginger Flower Zongzi, Amis-style bamboo tube rice, and rice balls from the King of Soy Milk in Northern Taiwan. All are copper-coin delights available for just 20NT.

There are also refined sushi from Taipei’s Mizu Japanese Restaurant and Hakka zongzi from Hualien Jixiang. In addition, the “Rice Gift Souvenirs” and “Agricultural Specialty Products” sections include packaged rice gifts from Yunlin and Tanzi in Taichung, along with Taikeng No. 9 Rice from Dalin in Chiayi. A total of 60 stalls, featuring fruits like honey peaches from Lala Mountain and pears from Taichung’s Shigang, are joining in the celebration.

The carnival also features indigenous rice dishes not commonly seen in daily life, including the “Indigenous Flavor Pavilion” offering Amis-style bamboo tube rice, “Taipaq” cuisine made with glutinous rice that includes traditional indigenous dishes like sticky rice cake and millet bread, as well as rice dumplings from Sandimen that resemble mochi, and offerings from Alishan that resemble tangyuan. Moreover, you can pair them with sides like pickled vegetables and grilled sausages. On the 16th and 17th, there will also be the grand finals of the “Taipei Sushi Championship” and the “Taipei Zongzi Championship.”
