Taiwan Tourist Shuttle summer discount tickets slashed to 33% off

As the summer travel season kicks in, knowing how to have fun while saving money is an art. The "Taiwan Tourist Shuttle" series, which connects tourist attractions with major public transportation, has launched 49 discount packages this year, with the lowest discount being 33% off. In addition to newly added routes such as the Royal North Coast Line and the Salt Town Coastal Line, there are also seven regional packages including the "Northeast Coast & Yilan 3-Day Anytime Pass." Moreover, some routes are gradually installing smart bus systems, integrating GPS multilingual guided tour services, and planning to develop diverse ticketing and booking options, allowing the public to explore all of Taiwan while saving money.

The Tourism Bureau noted that in 2011, the "Taiwan Tourist Shuttle" had 1.16 million riders, a 52% increase from the previous year. As of May this year, ridership has reached 700,000, a 125% increase compared to the same period last year. This year, the number of Taiwan Tourist Shuttle packages has increased from the original 16 to 49. Among them, the one-day Salt Town Coastal Line package includes a bus ticket, three attraction tickets, a small train ride, ice cream, and bicycle rental discounts. Originally priced at NT$946, it is now only NT$330. The Royal North Coast Line’s "North Coast Budget Travel" offers a NT$199 package that includes a one-day bus pass and a train ticket, plus a free Liu family zongzi meal set.
This year’s new regional packages include the "Mountain & Sea 2-Day Pass" in Taitung, covering the East Coast Line and the Luye Valley Line, allowing unlimited rides for two days from the date of purchase. Originally priced at NT$1,172, it is now slashed to 33% off, just NT$390. Other options include the "Northeast Coast & Yilan 3-Day Anytime Pass," "Shi Shan Line - Shi Shan Nanzhuang Line - Nanzhuang Line Super Value Pass," "Sun Moon Lake - Xitou Pass," "Sun Moon Lake - Alishan 3-Day Transport Pass," and "Salt Town Coastal Line + Taijiang 99 Line 2-Day Transport Pass." These offer cross-route and cross-region 2-3 day in-depth travel packages, all priced between NT$200–630.

In addition, the Tourism Bureau has invited singer卢广仲 (Crowd Lu) to be the spokesperson for Taiwan Tourist Shuttle this year and has planned a series of promotional events. For example, those who purchase a Taiwan Tourist Shuttle package can join the "Taiwan Tourist Shuttle: Flash Your Ticket for Perks" fan meet-up on July 24 at Taipei’s Ximending Red House, where concert tickets worth a total of NT$500,000 will be given away. There is also the "Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Fan Rally" online event—just upload a photo with a Taiwan Tourist Shuttle bus, bus stop, or poster to the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Facebook page to enter the lucky draw. The event is expected to kick off in early July.
