Download the app and get a One Card for Kaohsiung to attract mainland Chinese independent travelers

Since the opening of independent travel for mainland Chinese tourists to Taiwan has reached its first anniversary, the vast tourism business opportunities have become a key target for local governments and travel agencies across the country. To capture the independent travel market from mainland Chinese tourists, the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau has launched the “Mobile Kaohsiung APP” campaign. Any mainland Chinese tourist visiting Kaohsiung who downloads the “Mobile Kaohsiung APP” can exchange for a “Kaohsiung MRT One Card Commemorative Card” at the passenger service centers at Kaohsiung International Airport (Xiaogang) and the High-Speed Rail Zuoying Station. In addition, the Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau has also combined local attractions and specialty snacks to launch themed independent travel itineraries such as “Blessing & Shopping Leisure Tour,” “Veterans Village Food Exploration Tour,” “Meinong & Neimen Experience Tour,” and “Port City Kaohsiung Leisure Tour,” allowing mainland Chinese tourists to experience Kaohsiung’s cultural charm from various perspectives.

Xu Chuansheng, Director of the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau, pointed out that the number of mainland Chinese independent travelers visiting Kaohsiung has exceeded 24,000. From January to May this year, the number of mainland Chinese tourists staying in Kaohsiung reached 578,066 person-times, a 42.84% increase compared to 404,703 person-times during the same period last year. Moreover, the number of overnight stays in May alone reached nearly 140,000, a 54.5% increase compared to May last year, showing that both group and independent travelers from mainland China to Kaohsiung have been increasing year by year. To attract more independent mainland Chinese travelers to visit Kaohsiung, Dream Mall has also printed 60,000 copies of the “Kaohsiung Dream Mall Happy Shopping Guide” to provide travel information about Kaohsiung. These guides are available at six tourism service centers in Kaohsiung and at Dream Mall.

In addition, the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau has also launched four “Independent Travel Theme Tours,” including the “Blessing & Shopping Leisure Tour” connecting Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Center and E-DA World; the “Veterans Village Food Exploration Tour” featuring Lotus Pond Dragon Tiger Pagoda, Zuoying Old City ruins, veterans village culture, and local snacks; the “Meinong & Neimen Experience Tour” highlighting the unique culture, cuisine, and the dramatic landscape of Tianliao’s Moon World in Qishan, Meinong, and Neimen; and the “Port City Kaohsiung Leisure Tour” offering ferry rides to enjoy the ocean views of Qijin and Sizihwan, along with seafood delicacies. These tours allow mainland Chinese tourists visiting Kaohsiung to experience the port city’s charm more deeply.
