Traffic control to be enforced on July 15 for Yangmingshan Cross-Country Race

The 2012 Yangmingshan Cross-Country Race will take place on July 15, 2012, with an anticipated 5,000 participants. To facilitate the race, traffic control will be enforced on Yangming Road at the intersection with Hushan Road in front of Zhongshan Building, as well as on Yangjin Highway up to the Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area. Bus services affected include those operating along Yangde Boulevard, Leisure Bus routes 109, 111, and 681, route 108, minibuses 小8 and 小9, and Royal Bus (route 1717 Taipei to Jinshan). These services will be rerouted or have adjusted departure times. Residents of Zhuzihu and tourists planning to visit Yangmingshan on July 15 are advised to plan their transportation in advance. Additionally, from 0:00 to 10:00 AM on July 15, the main parking lot at Zhongshan Building in Yangmingshan will be under traffic control, with no vehicle entry permitted without a permit. Participants may take shuttle buses to the race venue using their race vouchers.

From 5:50 AM to 10:00 AM on July 15, two-way traffic control will be in place on Yangjin Highway. The section from Zhongshan Building in Yangmingshan to Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area will be fully closed to provide the race course. The section from Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area to Zhongshan Building in Yangmingshan (northbound to southbound) will be conditionally open to vehicles based on race progress.

Vehicles traveling from New Taipei City’s Jinshan District toward Taipei along Yangjin Highway may use the Zhonghu Combat Readiness Road as an alternative route. This route passes through Lengshuikeng Recreation Area and Jing Shan 101 Lane, connecting to Jing Shan Road toward Chinese Culture University (Shanzihou). At the intersection of Jing Shan Road and Gezhi Road (near McDonald’s), turn left downhill toward Taipei via Yangde Boulevard.

During the traffic control period, residents of Zhuzihu can use the southbound open lane of Yangjin Highway to descend to Taipei. For the return trip, if Yangjin Highway is under traffic control, they may travel via Shanzihou’s Jing Shan Road or Xinyuan Street to Lengshuikeng, then along the Zhonghu Combat Readiness Road to connect with Yangjin Highway. Turn left at the junction toward Xiaoyoukeng and then to Zhuzihu Community.

Regarding bus entry and exit, buses operating along Yangde Boulevard will make an early left turn at the intersection of Yangming Road and Zhongheng Street Lane (Yangming Road Section 1, Lane 43), then reroute via the Yangtou Highway (Shamao Road) intersection and turn right to enter the course. For departure, buses will follow their original routes downhill. Leisure Buses 109, 111, and 681 will not be able to follow their original routes to the Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot Transfer Station. Instead, they will turn left at the intersection of Yangming Road and Zhongheng Street Lane (Yangming Road Section 1, Lane 43), proceed along Yangtou Highway (Shamao Road) and Victory Street to connect with Hushan Road, then follow their original routes downhill. Signboards announcing bus diversions will be posted at the Second Parking Lot Transfer Station and nearby areas, reminding passengers to board at Yangmingshan bus stops instead.

Buses on route 108, as well as minibuses 小8 and 小9, will operate in the opposite direction of their regular routes. Route 108 will depart from the Yangmingshan Bus Terminal, proceed via Xinyuan Street to Lengshuikeng, then along the Zhonghu Combat Readiness Road to connect with Yangjin Highway. It will turn left at the junction, pass through Xiaoyoukeng, and reach Zhuzihu Community before returning to the Yangmingshan Bus Terminal via the southbound Yangjin Highway. Minibuses 小8 and 小9 will return to the Yangmingshan Bus Stop via the southbound Yangjin Highway, then turn right onto Hushan Road and continue downhill along the original route. A temporary bus stop will be set up at the Hushan Road pedestrian-vehicle separation point for passenger boarding.

Royal Bus (route 1717 Taipei to Jinshan) will be unable to follow its original route along Yangjin Highway back to its departure station in Jinshan District, New Taipei City, due to the traffic control. It will use alternative routes or adjust its departure times.
