There's a System for Overseas Travel Safety: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Travel Emergency Guidance App is Now Available

Using an app to book flights online and check in is common, and now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched the “Travel Emergency Guidance” (Travel Emergency Guidance) app to provide more channels for overseas emergency assistance services. It integrates various types of information for traveling abroad and is available for free download and installation on the App Store, Android Market, and Chunghwa Telecom’s Hami app store.

The “Travel Emergency Guidance” app is the first in the country to offer the most comprehensive overseas travel information. It combines the Location-Based Service (LBS) feature of smartphones, allowing users to access basic information about their destination or current country, travel alerts, passport loss procedures, visa information, weather, flight schedules, exchange rates, and emergency contact numbers of Taiwan’s overseas offices anytime, anywhere, after downloading and installing it on their smartphones or tablets. Currently, only the United States and South Korea provide similar services to their citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it is currently planning to incorporate new communication technologies, integrate existing overseas travel safety mechanisms, and develop an “Overseas Travel Safety Cloud” to provide even better services for outbound travelers.
