Huashan 1914 Cultural and Creative Industry Park is a microcosm of Taiwan’s liquor industry, bearing witness to the history of liquor monopoly from the Japanese colonial period to the Nationalist government era. It is closely tied to people’s daily lives and holds unique value and significance in Taiwan’s modern industrial history. This July, Huashan unveiled the newly opened "Red Brick Hexagonal Courtyard" and launched its first curated exhibition — "Ordinary. Beautiful." Serving as a symbolic starting point, the exhibition centers on the theme of "uniquely Taiwanese, one of a kind" cultural and creative talents and works, presenting the viewpoint that the more local something is, the more internationally appealing it can be.

The content of the "Ordinary. Beautiful" exhibition features everyday objects that are ubiquitous in daily life. Through the lens of curation, it does not emphasize brand stories or design awards. Instead, it gathers ordinary household items found piled up in hardware stores, grocery shops, or even supermarkets. These items lack dazzling brand endorsements or are not necessarily the proud creations of famous designers. The focus is on the storytelling quality of the objects themselves, showcasing a simple beauty derived from functional design honed through the passage of time. Rather than presenting a curatorial philosophy, the exhibition serves as a reminder of a way of life, shining a spotlight directly on these everyday objects. It encourages people to view them from a fresh perspective and to see that these ordinary, unassuming household items can be just as beautiful as those designed by renowned artists.

Viewing this exhibition is like an unexpected encounter with aesthetic taste in everyday life, allowing people to better understand and connect with the omnipresence of "Ordinary. Beautiful." We share the beauty we’ve worked hard to uncover or discovered by chance, hoping that everyone can thus embark on their own journey of discovering "Ordinary. Beautiful" in their daily lives.

Beyond offering an emotionally moving experience, the exhibition also satisfies life experiences. In addition to displaying everyday objects with the "Ordinary. Beautiful" quality collected from all over Taiwan, Huashan has also invited the HowFun team to plan and launch a limited-time concept store for the exhibition — "VVG at Home X Ordinary. Beautiful."

The limited-time concept store is open for one month, selling everyday objects with an "Ordinary. Beautiful" essence from Japan, Hong Kong, Denmark, Germany, and other places, as well as Taiwan-original goods enhanced through design. It highlights how, despite differing lifestyles between the East and West, and the variety of everyday objects, they all share the same simple and sincere "Ordinary. Beautiful" quality. — VVG at Home X Ordinary. Beautiful Limited-Time Concept Store.
