Free rides on the Taichung Ocean Sightseeing Bus to explore the coastal route

Summer tourism is booming all over Taiwan. In addition to famous destinations in Taichung like the Grass Jelly Cultural Street and Xinshe District, starting now until October 14, every Saturday and Sunday, three coastal areas—Wuqi, Qingshui, and Shalu—will launch a free shuttle bus service for the Blue Ribbon Ocean Sightseeing Tour. The route will pass by attractions such as Wuqi Chaoyuan Temple, Wuqi Sightseeing Fishery Port, Gaomei Wetlands, and the Harbor Arts Center. The shuttle buses will feature onboard guides providing commentary, and at certain times, there will also be scheduled guided tours at Wuqi Fishery Port and Gaomei Wetlands. Additionally, on the evening of August 18 at 19:00, a “Blue Ribbon Ocean Night” gala will be held at Wuqi Sightseeing Fishery Port, featuring performances by artists such as Weng Liyou and Annabelle Hsu, as well as a lucky draw event.

The operating period for the Taichung Blue Ribbon Ocean Sightseeing Shuttle Bus runs from now until October 14. In addition to Saturdays and Sundays, extra services will be added on Fridays during July and August. Before July 22, the shuttle bus service will operate two routes daily, totaling eight trips, departing from Renyou Luchuan North Station and Juye Shalu Station. The route will pass through Wuqi Dazhuang, Chaoyuan Temple, the Import Mall, Wuqi Sightseeing Fishery Port, Gaomei Wetlands, Harbor Arts Center, and Luliao Apparel Mall. Starting July 27, the routes will change to two lines departing from Taichung Railway Station and Juye Shalu Station, with five trips per day. The route from Taichung Railway Station will go directly to Juye Shalu Station without additional stops at scenic sites, while the route from Juye Shalu Station will maintain its original sightseeing stops.

During the event, passengers riding the shuttle bus will receive a free guide brochure containing discount information for local businesses in Shalu, Wuqi, and Qingshui, including Lin Yixiangzhai, Yimei Baking, Huasheng Music & Culture Museum, and Zheng Dao Di. Customers can also get lottery tickets with their purchases, with prizes including LCD TVs, digital cameras, and iPad2s. Throughout the event, five additional tickets to Yue Mei Amusement World will be given away each week, totaling 180 tickets.

In addition, the “Blue Ribbon Ocean Night” on Saturday, August 18 at 19:00 will feature performances by Mandarin and Hokkien singers and entertainers such as Shu Mei, Weng Liyou, Wang Zhongping, Shi Wenbin, and Annabelle Hsu.
