Luxury cross-border train tickets: Venice Simplon-Orient-Express from just NT$75,000

The world-famous Venice Simplon-Orient-Express will introduce a range of new itineraries next year, including its first-ever route deep into the heart of Scandinavia. The journey spans six countries, departing from Venice on April 8, 2013, passing through Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, then traveling via Copenhagen to Stockholm. The train will return on April 12, heading back from Stockholm to Venice. The most affordable luxury Orient Express ticket starts at NT$75,000.

The carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express recreate the Art Deco ambiance of the 1920s and 1930s, traversing many of Europe’s most captivating cities, including Venice, Prague, Budapest, Kraków, and Dresden, all while offering stunning scenic views. There is also one annual journey to Istanbul. From the moment guests step into the elegant carriages, white-gloved attendants are on hand to provide attentive service, along with chef-prepared meals.

The journey between Venice and Stockholm is a highlight among the new routes, where guests will stay for two nights at the luxurious Hotel Cipriani. Acclaimed as one of the world’s most famous and luxurious hotels, Hotel Cipriani boasts prime views of the magnificent Grand Canal and the world-renowned St. Mark’s Square. The train departs from Venice, with a 44-hour ride weaving through the heart of Europe, an overnight stop in Copenhagen, and a final destination in Scandinavia.

The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express offers a variety of journeys of different lengths. The most expensive itinerary is from Venice to Stockholm via Copenhagen, spanning five nights. It includes two nights at Hotel Cipriani, two nights aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express from Venice to Stockholm (with one night at the Copenhagen Marriott Hotel en route), as well as transfers between train stations and hotels. The cost is £4,550 (approximately NT$219,000) per person. The most economical option is the overnight train journey from Copenhagen to Stockholm, priced at £1,550 (approximately NT$75,000) per person.
