Visiting WWII Shipwrecks: A Diver’s Favorite in Guam

The Toyama Maru and SMS Morazán are currently the only known dive site in the world composed of shipwrecks from both World Wars. When it comes to famous dive sites in Guam, none is more renowned than the Blue Hole. It’s a crevice about 18 meters deep, home to a breathtaking underwater paradise. The area enjoys exceptional visibility, allowing divers to weave through cave systems and observe large tuna, unicornfish, and reef sharks. Additionally, Cocos Island and Coral Garden are popular spots for exploring coral reef ecosystems. At Cocos Island, drift diving lets you glide over vast coral reefs and marine life. True to its name, Coral Garden features massive coral structures that resemble a deep-sea garden.

Even beginners without a diving license will find Guam an ideal place for their first underwater adventure. For example, diving at Fish Eye Park requires no certification and is perfect for first-timers. With guidance from professional instructors, anyone can easily take the plunge and enjoy the view of butterflyfish, damselfish, and barracudas, while also waving to visitors inside the underwater observatory. For seasoned divers, the 11-Mile Reef offers the chance for a first encounter with sharks. Other featured dive spots include the USS President Jackson, Gun Beach, Gab Gab, Gab Gab II, Anae Island, and Pete’s Reef.
