Taichung Rock Festival: Japanese and Korean Bands to Perform on Saturday

Want to hold onto summer without getting sunburned on the beach? The large-scale urban music festival “Rock in Taichung,” to be held on September 1–2 at the Wenxin Forest Park and Yuanman Outdoor Theater in Taichung City, will feature first-time visitors to Taiwan such as the heavyweight Japanese band “FACT,” South Korea’s AXIZ, and acts from Hong Kong and Macau including daybreak on Monday and villain, alongside Taiwanese and Asian rock bands like this year’s Golden Melody Awards nominees for Best Band, Prophet of the Future (先知瑪莉) and Tizzy Bac. The event runs daily from 14:00 to 22:00, with free admission all day and creative markets among other activities, giving music fans a chance to let loose at the end of summer.

Participating acts in this music festival includedomesticbands such as White Eyes (白目), Fire EX (滅火器), Regulars (固定客), Kou Chou Ching (拷秋勤), 88 Balaz (88顆芭樂籽), Rural Armed Youth (農村武裝青年), along with FOUR GET ME A NOTS, JUNIOR, Chiho & Matsui Akihiro (ちえ坊＆松井明紀), Okamura Shiki (岡村詩野), Survive Said The Prophet, Champion (チャランポランタン), and Dohatsuten (多火油機V愕壤). In addition, the “2012 Student Rock Battle – Second Intercollegiate Heat Music Competition” will also see seven emerging student bands perform on September 1–2, bringing the total number of performing groups to 86.

“2012 Rock in Taichung” is themed “Rock’n Love,” featuring four themed stages — Energy, Impact, Jump, and Green — as well as creative markets such as the NGO Carnival and Provence Agricultural Market. For detailed event info, visit the official website at www.rockintaichung.com.
