The Popular Black Coffee PK Competition at Yuanshan Exhibition Hall Features Hundreds of Aromatic Coffee Beans

Taipei has a long-standing coffee culture, which has developed over the past hundred years—from the opening of the first café, “Pole Road,” during the Japanese colonial period, to American military-era cafés such as “Old Tree Coffee,” “South American Coffee,” and “Fengda Coffee.” It has now evolved into a specialty coffee scene, sourcing coffee beans from around the world, making it like a global café hub. From September 1 to 2, the “Taipei Coffee Story House” at Yuanshan Exhibition Hall will introduce Taipei’s coffee culture, and nearly a hundred varieties of global coffee beans will be available for purchase on-site. Exhibitors include businesses such as Central America’s Anjing Estate, Beancafe known for high-quality coffee beans grown under tropical rainforests, and OLD CAFE offering Nepalese coffee beans with sweet citrus notes. There will also be free live lectures by coffee experts.

Coffee lovers who have a special fondness for black coffee are in luck. From now until August 29, the Taipei Coffee Story House is calling on 100 members of the public to sign up as on-site judges to sample signature black coffees from 20 well-known Taipei coffee shops, cast their sacred votes, and help select Taipei’s most popular black coffee establishments.
