The Taiwan Photography Art Fair kicks off in October with early-bird pre-sales now open

The second “TAIWAN PHOTO Taiwan Photography Art Fair” will take place from October 5 to October 10 this year, spanning the weekend and National Day, at the A11 Hall of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi New World. The fair is Taiwan’s only art fair dedicated exclusively to “photographic media,” organized by the 1839 Contemporary Gallery, which has invited numerous domestic and international galleries to participate.

The fair will feature Japanese photographer Hal (Photographer Hal) and British photographer Thomas Hodges, both of whom focus on portrait photography but employ different expressive techniques. Photographer Hal presents a unique style that abstracts the human form, depicting the deep affection of modern couples, while Thomas Hodges explores political propaganda as a distinctive creative theme. In addition to the special exhibition areas curated by these two artists, the fair also invites important international galleries and domestic partners to collaborate.

Taiwan currently hosts various types of art fairs, but the defining feature of this one is its exclusive focus on “pure photographic media.” The fair adopts an approach that gives equal emphasis to exhibitors and photographers, providing professional showcase opportunities for participating galleries while also featuring special exhibition areas for individual photographers. This dual focus balances commercial promotion with educational outreach, allowing collectors and visitors to gradually gain an understanding of contemporary photography and the current state of the international art market. Early-bird tickets offering a 20% discount are available for NT$120 if ordered before September 17.
