California in the United States is the top destination for Taiwanese traveling to America. With the implementation of the visa waiver program, the number of Taiwanese visiting the U.S. is expected to continue rising. In response, the California Tourism Board has launched its first-ever campaign in Taiwan, which will run from tomorrow (the 7th) through September 30 at Taiwan’s MapleCan Supermarkets under the theme “Sunny California · Healthy MapleCan · California Month.” Shoppers who spend a minimum amount in-store can enter a lucky draw, with the grand prize including two round-trip air tickets from Taipei to California, plus seven days and five nights of free accommodation and car rental. Additionally, starting tomorrow morning at the MapleCan Supermarket Taichung Zhongke branch, there will be an on-site promotion offering American potatoes for just NT$1 each and a bottle of Red Label Cooking Rice Wine for NT$1 each, limited to the first 100 people in line..Healthy MapleCan. California Month, as long as you spend the required amount in the supermarket, you can participate in the lottery, with the first prize being two round-trip air tickets from Taipei to California, as well as seven days and five nights of free accommodation and car rental, among other prizes. The upcoming California Month event, which begins tomorrow, allows participants to enter the lucky draw by spending just NT$350 at any of the 40 nationwide MapleCan Supermarket branches, or by purchasing NT$200 worth of California, U.S. products. In addition, Taiwan’s MapleCan Supermarkets will hold a related event tomorrow (the 7th) at 10:00 AM at the Zhongke branch in Taichung City, featuring fun competitions, product tastings, and on-site special prices for the first 100 people in line, such as California sweet peaches for NT$10 each, premium California raisins for NT$10 per pack, American potatoes for NT$1 each, and a bottle of Red Label Cooking Rice Wine for NT$1.

According to statistics from the U.S. Department of Commerce, in 2011 over 400,000 Taiwanese visited the United States, with 60% of them traveling to California. California not only boasts world-renowned cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles, but also sun-drenched attractions in San Diego,as well as theme parks such as Disneyland and SeaWorld, along with richly endowed museums and vibrant nightlife, making it a top travel destination for visitors of all ages.
