Mid-Autumn Festival at KMFA: Hall Concert Series “Moonlight Baroque”

On September 29 at 19:30, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts will hold the well-received Hall Concert Series – Moonlight Baroque in the first-floor Sculpture Hall. The concert not only features a special performance of the baroque era’s iconic instrument, the harpsichord, in ensemble with other instruments, but also invites Russian artist Leonid Tishkov, who exhibited his “There Is a Moon Coming from Afar” at KMFA in 2009. He will present his artwork My Moon alongside the music, allowing the public to celebrate Mid-Autumn under both enchanting melodies and moon-themed art.

Alongside Tishkov’s My Moon, the KMFA Mid-Autumn Festival event “Moonlight Baroque” Hall Concert will feature performances by renowned musicians Lee Mei-wen, Li Rong-ying, Chen Yu-wen, and Kao Ping-kun. They will perform classical pieces by French composers François Couperin and Jean-Philippe Rameau, British composers George Frideric Handel and Henry Purcell, as well as German composer Johann Sebastian Bach. The concert offers audiences a chance to experience authentic baroque-era music, learn about various solo instrumental forms and performance styles, all while being immersed in the glow of Tishkov’s moon.

This event will take place during the museum’s nighttime opening hours. Visitors can first join the special “I Want to Say to the Moon…” activity at the first-floor North Hall starting at 18:30 on September 29. Participants will receive a small gift and have the chance to get an autograph from My Moon artist Leonid Tishkov. The “Moonlight Baroque” Hall Concert will begin at 19:30 in the first-floor Sculpture Hall. For more details, please visit the official KMFA website at www.kmfa.gov.tw.
