2016’s Most Braggable Restaurants Ranking Released — Dessert Shops Dominate Central Region

iPeen has published its 2016 annual restaurant rankings. Which restaurants are the top five most photographed and bragged about by netizens in northern, central, and southern Taiwan? The survey revealed significant differences in dining bragging habits across the regions: northerners value high cost-performance, central Taiwanese love showing off desserts, while those in the south have strong spending power and a penchant for international cuisine.

Two out of the top five restaurants in the northern region were favored by netizens for their exceptional cost-performance. Topping the list is “Shuangyue Food Society,” a tonic food restaurant famous for its affordable portions. With an average spending of under NT$200 per person, diners can enjoy bowls overflowing with clam chicken soup, fried rice, and other snacks—making northern bragging posts quite practical.

iPeen finds that central Taiwanese seem particularly fond of showing off their dessert indulgences, as all top five bragging posts are from dessert shops. These spots share a common trait: stunningly romantic interiors paired with delicious sweet creations. The most bragged-about is the chocolate specialty shop “Nina Chocolate Workshop” located in Qingjing.

The southern ranking also surprised the iPeen team—the top spot went to a vegetarian restaurant “Chixi Lou,” transformed from a classic old house. Three out of the top five are international cuisine spots, leading iPeen to suggest that southerners consider enjoying foreign dishes as a truly brag-worthy gourmet experience.
