Top international performers gather in Miaoli for the largest National Day fireworks show ever, kicking off tomorrow

The National Day fireworks series, being held in Miaoli County for the first time, will take place over five consecutive weeks from tomorrow (the 29th) to October 27th at the high-speed rail special zone in Houlong Township. The event will feature 2–3 music fireworks invitation competitions and art season events. A total of 15 teams from both domestic and international locations have been invited to compete, and including the National Day fireworks on October 10th, there will be a total of 11 themed music fireworks shows—the largest scale ever. During the event period, other cultural performances are also planned, such as “The King of Pop—Michael Jackson Night,” Australian tap dance, Matthew Lien, Ju Percussion Group, Jiutian Folk Art Troupe, Mayday, and Sodagreen. Tomorrow’s opening event will feature the Italian team taking the stage first, along with performances by entertainers such as Amber An, Jolin Tsai, and Lolan.

This “Legendary Mountains, Brilliant Lights” National Day fireworks series will begin each evening at 18:00 during the event period. Participating teams in the fireworks invitation competition include 5 Taiwanese teams and 10 international teams from Canada, China, the Netherlands, the United States, France, Kazakhstan, Italy, Argentina, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. There will be a total of 11 fireworks shows, including the National Day display, with each session featuring 1–3 rounds of fireworks. Each competing team will have a 20-minute fireworks display.

For the surrounding cultural performances, international groups and artists invited include Mongolian Oroqen legends, ABBA revival shows, Korean BIBAP bibimbap performance show, Japanese Summer Night Breeze group, Italian tenors Alessandro and Safina, and other well-known foreign artists. Domestic entertainers participating in the event include Amber An, Jolin Tsai, Yen-j, Jonathan Lee & Chang Chen-yue, Power Station, Yoga Lin, and Wan Li-you. Also featured are performances by Formosa Aboriginal Song and Dance Troupe, Paper Windmill Theatre, Miaoli County Chinese Orchestra & Yin Zheng-yang, and Miaoli County Youth Chinese Orchestra.

Regarding transportation, during the 11-day event period, 8 free shuttle bus lines have been arranged. On National Day, October 10th, from 15:00 to 00:00, and during the rest of the event period from 16:00 to 23:00, buses will run approximately every 10–15 minutes. The free shuttle bus routes are: Route 1 – International Shanlin Parking Lot to Fengfu 8th Street left side; Route 2 – Houlong Station to Xingang 3rd Road and Fengfu 8th Street; Route 3 – Farglory Parking Lot to Xingang 3rd Road and Fengfu 8th Street; Route 5 – County Stadium to Xingang 3rd Road near the high-speed rail; Route 6 – CPC Corporation Taiwan Exploration Department in front of Miaoli Train Station to GaoTie 1st Road and Xingang 2nd Road; Route 7 – Shangri-La to Xingang 3rd Road near the high-speed rail; Route 8 – Below the HuanSan Extension Road at the Miaoli end of Xingang Bridge to Xingang 3rd Road and Fengfu 8th Street; Route 9 – Model Airport on Guojing Road to Xingang 3rd Road near the high-speed rail.

For those driving to the event venue, the high-speed rail special zone has 7,000 car parking spaces and 16,000 motorcycle parking spaces, with 10 additional peripheral parking lots providing about 5,200 spaces. High-occupancy vehicle (HOV) restrictions will be enforced starting at 16:00 each day in the west-side A2, A3, and A5 parking areas and the east-side A6–A8 parking areas of the event’s car park—only vehicles with three or more passengers may enter and park. Non-HOV parking zones include the south-side A10 and A11 parking areas, along Guojing Road, the Guojing Road model airport, the stadium’s peripheral parking lots, the HuanSan Extension Road, along Provincial Highway 1, and the parking lot beneath Shangri-La Amusement Park.

In addition, Taiwan Railways will operate extra trains between Zhunan and Fengfu, and between Miaoli and Fengfu stations during the event period. Commemorative tickets will also be issued for free collection. Travelers heading southbound or northbound can take the free local trains to Fengfu Station and then follow the signs to walk to the event venue.
