Taiwanese sightseeing buses are a hit with Aussies, with over 50% occupancy rate

Since 2004, the Tourism Bureau has supported travel agencies in launching the "Taiwan Sightseeing Bus," taking visitors to 26 unique scenic spots across Taiwan, such as Yilan, Northeast Coast, Yehliu, Yingge, Taichung, Lukang, Sun Moon Lake, Penghu, Kaohsiung, Kenting, and Taroko, among others. In addition to daily departures, it offers one-day and half-day tour services from transportation hubs and hotels to famous tourist attractions nationwide. Travelers can enjoy low minimum group sizes (some tours require as few as two people), hotel, airport, and station pick-up and drop-off services, as well as guided tours in Chinese, English, and Japanese. To date, over 900,000 people have taken the bus, with more than 50% of riders being international visitors.

To encourage locals, especially seniors, to take the sightseeing buses, the Tourism Bureau has launched the "Active Seniors, Go Happy" campaign from today (October 1) to November 15. Travelers aged 65 and above who sign up for a "Taiwan Sightseeing Bus" tour together can enjoy a 20% discount. They can also participate in the "Ride the Taiwan Sightseeing Bus, Win Prizes" event, with a chance to take home various gifts.

Previously, the top-ranked sightseeing bus route in terms of satisfaction was the "Zuoying Lotus Pond Half-Day Tour," followed by the "Keelung Port, Yehliu, and North Coast Park Half-Day Tour" in second place, and the third place jointly held by the "Houfeng Iron Rail Trail & Artistic Greater Taichung One-Day Tour" and the "Beautiful Encounter – Leisurely Journey to the Orchid Island One-Day Tour."
