When it comes to the 1984 Hong Kong action movie "Wheels on Meals" or the mobile food trucks called “fat carts” that are hugely popular on the streets of Europe, America, and Japan, you’re surely familiar with them. On October 13–14, a creative food truck finals event will be held at Kaohsiung’s Lotus Pond Scenic Area. Twenty food trucks, which stood out from the preliminary selection and feature designs resembling movie props, will participate in the public vote and serve delicious light meals. There will also be performances by popular bands. From now until 3:00 PM on October 14, an online vote for the “Best Design” food truck will be held on the event’s official website, and participants have a chance to win NT$1,000 convenience store gift vouchers.

The top 20 finalists of the “Kaohsiung Scenic Area Creative Food Truck Carnival” preliminary selection have been announced. Twenty creative food trucks, including the “Banana Lovers” from Qishan, will compete in the finals at the Big Wharf area along the Lotus Pond Loop Road. They will vie for two major awards: “Most Popular” and “Best Local Characteristic.” In addition to showcasing creatively designed food trucks and offering tasty light meals, the event will feature performances by popular bands such as MATZKA and Desert Spring Water, blending reggae with jazz, folk, heavy metal, rap, and hip-hop to create a unique musical style. Other highlights during the event include performances by the tree-drumming flag team from Shude Vocational High School, sing-along activities with MOMO TV’s Apple Sister and Peanut Brother for family fun, and a “Little Lambs” experience vehicle for parent-child enjoyment.
An online voting campaign through the event’s official website and Facebook fan page has begun. The top 20 selected food trucks, along with their entrepreneurial stories, best-selling items, and photos, will be featured on the event website for the finals vote. Netizens can vote for the “Best Design” food truck based on appearance, and five winners will receive NT$1,000 convenience store gift vouchers. Event website: www.2012ksftf.com.tw.
