Free Tasting of Ishikari Nabe and Senbei Soup at Japan Tourism & Specialty Products Exhibition

To promote Japanese tourism and local specialties, Hokkaido and various prefectures in Japan’s Northeast region will jointly hold the largest-scale Japanese regional tourism and specialty products exhibition in Taiwan—the “Feast of the Gods ~ Messages from Hokkaido and Japan’s Northeast” event on October 27–28 at the 2nd floor of Taipei World Trade Center. During the event, visitors can sample authentic Japanese delicacies such as Ishikari Nabe, senbei soup, and soba noodles, as well as purchase famous specialties from Hokkaido and Japan’s Northeast, including handmade grilled squid strips, cherry milk candies, and apple desserts. Additionally, those attending the opening event on October 27 at the Southern Plaza on the B1 level of Taipei 101 can receive specialties from Hokkaido and Japan’s Northeast, and those with event flyers may also have a chance to enter a lucky draw.

During the two-day Japan Hokkaido & Northeast Tourism & Specialty Promotion event, participants can not only shop for distinctive specialties from Hokkaido and the Northeast region but also enjoy local cuisine, including the representative Hokkaido local dish Ishikari Nabe, Aomori Prefecture’s senbei soup—which frequently ranks high in Japan’s local food B-1 Grand Prix—soba noodles from Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, one of the “Three Famous Noodles of Morioka,” Akita Prefecture’s grilled rice roll hot pot beloved for its homey taste, Miyagi Prefecture’s over 300-year-old history and story-rich nennenmen, Yamagata Prefecture’s taro beef hot pot, and Niigata Prefecture’s highly praised kakinoha soba, among many other authentic Japanese dishes.

In addition, on October 28 at the Gravity Performance Hall on B3 of Core Pacific City, the “Japan Travel Festival – Northeast / North Kanto Tourism Exhibition” will also be held, featuring the latest travel and specialty information from participating prefectures, along with a rich variety of locally unique...sansa dance, and otherperformances, while also allowing the public to experience making traditional folk art from the Northeast. The Sansa Dance performance from Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, originates from the Three Stones Legend: the god of the three stones subdued the malevolent oni rampaging in Morioka and demanded that the demon press its handprint on three rocks in the area and vow never to cause trouble again. The joyful people then danced around the three large rocks, singing “sansa, sansa” in cheerful voices, which is said to be the origin of the Sansa Dance. Continuously passed down through the generations, the Sansa Dance has been designated as an intangible cultural asset of Morioka City.
