The Grass Jade Art Street in Taichung’s neighborhood art galleries has officially launched its exhibition.

Recently, Taichung has been gradually bringing creativity and art into its neighborhoods, giving the city a fresh new look. In addition to the previously launched “Create. Art. Central District,” the city has also created the Grass Jade Boulevard area with the concept of “neighborhood art galleries, neighborhood treasure hunts,” and is holding the “Neighborhood Creativity Clash — Grass Jade Art Street” from now until November 30. The event includes masterful street installation artworks, student creative works, street cosplay performances and guided tours, special offers from featured shops, and various other art exhibits and activities. In addition to showcasing the artistic creation by Chen Chung-hung, winner of a New York International Advertising Gold Award, who painted an artwork of nine window panels on a large 10m×7m wall, the event also collaborates with nearby designated shops to offer consumer discounts and other promotions.

For the masterful street installation artworks, the Cultural Affairs Bureau invited Chen Chung-hung, winner of a New York International Advertising Gold Award, and Wu Chuan-chih, director of Taiwan Era Village, to decorate the local and exotic flavors of Grass Jade Boulevard through storytelling and painting stories respectively. On a large 10m×7m wall, Chen Chung-hung painted nine window panels that, from a distance, look like real windows. When opened, they reveal penguins, elk, and more, adding to the vibrant diversity of Grass Jade Boulevard. Wu Chuan-chih, on the other hand, used the street scene of Grass Jade Boulevard as inspiration, creating two playful pieces: “The Old General Store” and “The Utility Pole,” which contrast past and present, time and space, producing an interesting juxtaposition.

 

The street cosplay performances and guided tours are combined with exclusive offers from featured shops. Several well-known anime characters have been invited to take turns providing creative guided tours. During the event period, every Saturday and Sunday from 15:00 to 19:00, every half hour, cosplay performers will conduct creative guided tours, leading the public to walk around the neighborhood and introduce the installation works. These include Sherry / Sherry Madison / Maid version, VOCALOID / Hatsune Miku / Shrine Maiden version on the 24th; Tiger & Bunny / Asuka Kazama / School Uniform version, Lucky Star / [Character] version on the 25th. Additionally, during the event, visitors can also enjoy various discounts at over 20 designated shops nearby. By collecting enough stamps, they can exchange for lovely small gifts.
