The Taitung Sailfish Season is here—feast on premium seafood!

Taitung County’s Chenggong Town New Port Fishing Harbor is the largest fishing port on Taiwan’s east coast. From October each year to around the Lunar New Year, the black marlin, blue marlin, white marlin, and swordfish caught during this period have the highest fat content. The fish are plump and muscular, with firm, boneless flesh. In addition to being ideal for sashimi, they can also be prepared into a variety of dishes with different flavors, offering an excellent taste experience. This year, Taitung will also host the East Coast Sailfish Festival to attract visitors, taking place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 25 in Chenggong Town.

The 2012 East Coast Sailfish Festival includes events such as the Harpoon King Competition, Sailfish Gastronomy Banquet, and song and dance performances. The Sailfish Gastronomy Banquet features a special set menu of 10 sailfish dishes, one soup, and two bottles of drinks, with 50 tables available. Each table is valued at NT$3,500 (with participants paying NT$2,500 themselves). The banquet will be held at 12:00 PM on November 25 at the Seaside Park Plaza in Chenggong Town. The Taitung County Agriculture Department pointed out that this year’s catch of sailfish has already reached 594 metric tons, with tuna catches also totaling 564 metric tons. Now is the best time to enjoy the freshest and sweetest flavors of the Pacific. The New Port Fishing Harbor in Chenggong Town, Taitung County, brings in freshly caught fish every afternoon. From late October to December each year, it attracts many seafood lovers eager to indulge in sailfish.
