The Christmas Village in Pingtung and the Wanjin Christmas Light Display stretch for 500 meters.

Every year as December begins, the normally quiet Wanjin Village springs to life, as the second Sunday of December marks the Feast of the Patroness of Wanjin Basilica. Coupled with Christmas being a significant Catholic holiday, almost every household decorates with Christmas lights and nativity scenes, creating the most captivating atmosphere of the Wanjin Christmas season. Currently, Christmas lights and decorations in Wanjin Village homes and surrounding roads have been gradually installed and are now starting trial illuminations. When night falls, little angels and reindeer seem to race across the night sky. The Wanjin Christmas season is set to kick off with an official lighting ceremony on December 1st.

The Pingtung County Government Tourism and Communications Department stated that last year many people specifically visited Wanjin to enjoy the night scenery. This year, the county government has commissioned the Wanjin Community Development Association to expand the scope of the Christmas light displays. In addition to the areas around Wanjin Basilica and the main streets within the village, the decorations have been extended to Chishan Village, Wugou Village, and the Ulaljuc Tribe in Wufeng Township. Among them, the tree-lined boulevard along the Ulaljuc Tribe to Wanjin military camp section, about 500–600 meters long, is now adorned with decorative lights in the shapes of little angels, reindeer, doves, and bells. At night, it adds a touch of romance to the tree-lined road, delighting many passersby, and is expected to become a popular spot during this year’s Wanjin Christmas season.

In addition, the village also features a blue tunnel of lights and a sea of small angel blessing lights along both sides of the road in front of the basilica. The number of Christmas lights is greater than in previous years. A nearly two-story-tall Christmas tree light display has also been set up in the temporary parking lot at the entrance to Wanjin Village on Provincial Highway 100, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
