Cross-year holiday high-speed rail tickets go on presale starting Dec. 1

During the four-day New Year’s holiday in 2013, Taiwan High Speed Rail will adjust its schedule during the transportation period from Dec. 28 to Jan. 2, 2013, increasing a total of 102 train services — 53 southbound and 49 northbound — providing 894 services and 884,166 seats over the six-day period. Passengers may start purchasing round-trip tickets for the transportation period from Dec. 1 via the 24-hour “THSR T Express” mobile app, THSR partner convenience stores, the online booking system, the voice reservation system, or at ticket windows and ticket vending machines at THSR stations during business hours.

THSR will continue to offer non-reserved seating during the New Year’s holiday transportation period and early bird discounts will apply. Of the services, 604 trains will be eligible for early bird discounts, accounting for 68% of all services during the transportation period. Passengers can enjoy early bird discounts of 65%, 80%, or 90% when booking between 8 and 28 days before departure. Starting Dec. 1, passengers may also purchase round-trip tickets for the entire period from Dec. 28 to Jan. 2 in one go. In addition, during the transportation period, passengers holding periodical tickets, round-trip tickets, or EasyCard co-branded cards may use them to access non-reserved cars directly.
