To ensure surf enthusiasts always have waves to ride, the Southern Hemisphere’s first artificial surf park is set to be completed near Melbourne Airport. No need to rush to your hotel after landing—hit the surf right next to the airport. That’s living on the edge in the best way possible.

Built at a cost of AUD 18.5 million, this urban artificial surf park in Melbourne (URBNSURF Melbourne) will feature a large pool measuring 320 meters long with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.9 meters. Unaffected by weather or ocean conditions, it allows extreme sports enthusiasts to surf day or night anytime.

The park also includes facilities such as a climbing wall, mountain bike trails, and running tracks, plus a surf school where beginners can practice their skills. Just a 23-minute drive from Melbourne’s city center, it lets urban dwellers enjoy surfing without the hassle of long travel. In addition,this artificial surf park will be located near Melbourne Airport and is set to be completed by the end of 2017. Future travelers can catch waves right after landing.
