Vast, colorful flower seas, 10 major floral art exhibition areas, 13 Nantou township-themed flower zones, and natural flower-viewing hidden gems scattered across Nantou will all be featured in the Nantou Flower Carnival kicking off on December 16. This year’s event includes activities such as “Nantou Floral Agents,” “Flower Card Perks,” where uploading photos and checking in earns you cash or souvenirs, as well as the Flower Tour Nantou lottery and the Dream Flower Goddess vote. The Dream Flower Goddess vote will see popular online celebrities Chicken Cutlet Girl, Ah Xi, and An Xiaoqiao compete for the title of Flower Goddess. Participants who vote will have the chance to join a free “Goddess Cute Charter Tour” guided by the Flower Goddess, exploring the Nantou Flower Carnival together.

This year’s event runs from December 16 to January 20, 2013, with the main flower sea area covering 20 hectares, including two zones: Chiding Farm next to Puzih's Putai High School and Puzih Flower Logistics Center. Aside from the exhibition areas planned by the county government, surrounding operators such as Taiyi Ecological Leisure Farm have also joined in, creating attractions like 3,000 trees of yaezakura cherry blossoms, 1,000 grape trees, a pumpkin zone, and a greenhouse strawberry area, expanding and enriching the Nantou Flower Carnival. The natural flower-viewing hidden gems scattered throughout Nantou’s townships are also a highlight of this year’s promotion. From December through March of next year, various township-specific flowers such as plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, peach blossoms, camellias, and peonies will bloom in succession. Moreover, a Flower Viewing Information Station will be launched this year to provide the latest real-time updates on flower conditions. The five major flower zones across Nantou—Puli, Xinyi, Ren’ai, Lugu, and Zhushan—can be monitored anytime via the event’s official website for flower conditions and weather, allowing visitors to plan their flower-viewing trips with peace of mind.
During the event period, various townships in Nantou County will also hold a series of local activities, such as Puli Town’s Charming Samba FUN Puli, Caotun Town’s Rural Fun Rhapsody, Jiji Town’s Flower and Fruit Picking Joyride, Xinyi Township’s Lona Christmas Night Party, Snow-Shoeing and Plum-Blossom Viewing Series, Caotou Head Cherry Blossom Season, Ren’ai Township’s Qingjing New Year’s Eve Countdown, Yuchi Township’s Orchid Township Blooming Red Welcome Spring, Zhushan Township’s Shanlinxi Peony Flower Season, and Guoxing Township’s Bigfoot Marathon—totaling over 10 distinctive local events. The entire Nantou region will be like a lively carnival, with flowers to admire and activities to enjoy everywhere. For detailed event information, visit: travel.nantou.gov.tw/2012flower.
