The only free Krantz Brothers Christmas party — rock on in Tainan tomorrow night

Beloved by jazz fans worldwide, the Krantz Brothers are returning to Taiwan after a five-year hiatus, invited this time by Taiwan Mobile. They will kick off their nationwide tour with their very first performance at Tainan City Hall Plaza tomorrow night (the 15th), and this is the only free show of its kind. To get fans in the holiday spirit early, the Krantz Brothers will reinterpret well-known Christmas classics during tomorrow night’s concert — including “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,” “Jingle Bells,” and “Silent Night” — giving these heartwarming melodies a vibrant samba-Christmas twist. In addition, those who bring their own shakers to the event can enjoy priority seating in the front row, giving them an up-close-and-personal Christmas party with the Krantz Brothers.

Having won two German Echo Awards, received nominations for the U.S. Grammy Awards, and achieved top sales on the Billboard charts, the Krantz Brothers have captivated global audiences since 1999 with their original works and arrangements that blend classical, jazz, and Cuban musical elements. Among the pieces in their first Taiwan performance is Mozart’s “Symphony No. 40” — often regarded as the beginning of Romanticism — composed in the rare key of G minor. It has inspired many different arrangements over the years, such as Taiwanese idol group S.H.E.’s “Don’t Want to Grow Up” and Korean boy band TVXQ’s “TRI-ANGLE,” both of which incorporated the melody into pop songs. This time, the Krantz Brothers put their own spin on this well-known piece by turning it into a mambo dance track. Likewise, the familiar tune “Für Elise,” played by garbage trucks across Taiwan, is reimagined in a rocking “African Elise.” Additionally, Taiwan Mobile has invited the “Xi’en Choir,” made up of four visually impaired musicians and supported by their charity partner Eden Social Welfare Foundation, to perform “The Church in the Wildwood,” as well as collaborate with the Krantz Brothers on the classic “Amazing Grace,” ensuring an unforgettable Christmas party for all attendees.

To ensure everyone can feel the Krantz Brothers’ energy and get up close, the organizers have arranged two ways to secure priority seating in the front row. The first option is for those dressed in Christmas attire — the first 200 people to check in at the Taiwan Mobile service booth starting at 5 p.m. will be granted front-row seats and receive a shaker. The second option is for those who bring their own shakers — those who check in at the Taiwan Mobile service area before 6:45 p.m. will also get early access to the front row and receive a special gift.
