Hear the Heartbeat of Alishan: Gao Huijun and Xiao Pang Live at the Sunrise Impression Concert

The Alishan Sunrise Impression Concert is about to enter its 12th year, leaving unforgettable and touching memories in the hearts of thousands every New Year's Day. This year, the event’s organizer, the Chiayi Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau, has invited producer Yu Chuanxian to create a signature theme song for the concert, which will be performed by renowned artist Gao Huijun — a girl who grew up in the Tsou tribe of Alishan. With her powerful and clear voice, she will bring boundless emotion to all attendees.

The Chiayi Forest District Office stated that from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM on December 31st, the “Alishan Night” event will be held at Alishan Railway Station. In addition to traditional dances of the Tsou people of Alishan and the passionate performance by Orion’s Mo & Du, the event will also feature the powerhouse vocal duo “Jinxian,” with members Jinwen and Qin reunited to keep everyone company. On New Year’s Day, anti-cancer musician Tang Danxiang will lead the Taichung Philharmonic Orchestra, along with Xiao Pang Lin Yuiqun — whose voice has been praised by CNN as reminiscent of Whitney Houston’s original Grammy-winning performance in 1993 — to perform classic songs such as “Amazing Grace” on the Duigaoyue Viewing Platform amidst the Alishan mountain range. This aims to offer the public a unique way to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters.

 

Every year starting from the early hours of New Year’s Day, visitors flock to the mountain hoping to secure the best spots to witness the first light of dawn. This year, the Alishan Forest Railway’s Zhushan Branch Line will begin operating from 2:00 AM, with trains departing every 10–15 minutes, running a total of 16 scheduled services to transport visitors. At 3:00 AM on New Year’s Day, a Starry Sky Cinema will be set up at the Duigaoyue Square, screening the film “Starry Starry Night” directed by Lin Shuyu, which was filmed in locations such as Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. This allows early arrivals to enjoy a movie under Alishan’s beautiful high-altitude starry sky. Given the large crowds and traffic during the New Year’s holiday period, the Chiayi Forest District Office has specially arranged free shuttle buses starting at 4:00 AM outside the park along Highway 18, between kilometers 83 and 95, with 10 temporary bus stops to serve visitors. Visitors are reminded once again that temperatures on the mountain can be around zero degrees, so they should arrange accommodation, meals, and warm clothing in advance.
