A Splendid Floral Feast: Three Major Exhibitions Compete in Brilliance at the Flower Expo Park

The Flower Expo Park was filled with warmth as 2012 came to a close. The Taipei City Government and the Taipei Exhibition & Convention Industry Development Foundation jointly hosted the "Flower Expo Park Floral Landscape Exhibition," combining the "2013 Taipei Flower Exhibition – This Stop, Beautiful Yuanshan," the "2012 Exhibition Hall Indoor Refined Floral Exhibition – Love in Taipei," and the "2012 Flower Expo Park Outdoor Landscape Design Competition – Happy Taipei, Love Blooms Garden." These three events provided the public with a wonderful destination to enjoy a spectacular floral feast at the year’s end.

The 2013 Taipei Flower Exhibition – "This Stop, Beautiful Yuanshan" kicked off simultaneously across the Yuanshan and Fine Arts Park areas of the Flower Expo Park and 12 neighborhood parks. The exhibition runs from now until January 20, 2013, spanning 30 days. Major exhibition zones include the "Yuanshan Happiness Station," "Beautiful Yuanshan Station," "Beautiful Flower Sea Sets Sail," "Children's Playground Station," "Starry Sky Station," and "Yuanshan Art Station," allowing visitors to reminisce about the beautiful Yuanshan while enjoying recreation. During the exhibition period, interactive games for the public include a floral paint wall and photo opportunities with exhibition zones, with chances to win exquisite small gifts. Weekly performances and activities are scheduled, featuring magic shows, live acoustic performances, floral painting, and balloon twisting.

To welcome the arrival of 2013 and foster a sense of urban happiness, the Flower Expo reimagined the Exhibition Hall as a themed floral exhibition, centered around the concept of "Love in Taipei," extending the theme of "love" across 18 exhibitions. "Sunshine Dancers" opens with Taipei’s city bird, the blue magpie, depicted in three poses—standing, wings spread, flying, and soaring through the sky—to fully showcase Taipei’s continuous progress, radiating hope and vitality. "Pearl Shines Over the Bustling City" features high-quality Phalaenopsis orchids, presenting Taipei’s blend of tradition and modernity. "Dreaming in Wonderland" uses native Central and South American anthuriums paired with the greenhouse’s mist sounds, creating the illusion of stepping into a natural fairyland. "Floral Avenue – Winter Love" showcases thousands of vibrant flowers adorning scented candles, with an 18-panel exquisite pressed-flower floor clock representing people from different time zones gathering joyfully in Taipei.

After the preliminary selection round, 15 professional teams stood out in the "Flower Expo Park Outdoor Landscape Design Competition," including international professional designers, urban planners, award-winning construction teams from past National Skills Competition landscape gardening categories, and competition teams formed by university faculty and students. Utilizing Taiwan’s diverse local horticultural plants and flowers, paired with exquisite garden craftsmanship, they expressed the livability and design sensibility of healthy urban landscapes.
