The Su-Hua Highway affects eastern Taiwan businesses, which launch major promotions and even give away cars

Starting from January 1st, apart from the county government’s “2012 Love Hualien Countdown Party,” the East Rift Valley Office of the Tourism Bureau has also introduced the “Discover Happiness, Have Fun in Luye” route, while the East Coast Office has organized events to welcome the first sunrise. The Hualien County Hotel Association is offering an event from January 1st to 31st, 2013, where guests staying at member hotels and spending over NT$1,000 can get a lottery ticket at the train station’s tourism service center with their receipts. For every NT$1,000 spent, one lottery ticket is given, and for NT$2,000, two tickets, and so on. Prizes include domestic cars, 3C products, and accommodation vouchers. Throughout January, the Hualien County Homestay Association is giving out around 100 bags of high-quality Hualien rice daily at the train station—visitors can get a free bag by showing their homestay receipt. Guests can also enter a draw with their receipt to win a free future homestay night, plus other major prizes such as tablets and LCD TVs. Taiwan Tourist Buses are offering a NT$200 cash discount on all their Taroko Insight Tours, Cultural & Wellness Tours, and Valley Farming Experience Tours from January 1st to March 31st, 2013.
