Hong Kong Disneyland gives out red envelopes for Chinese New Year with brand-new "Golden Year" event to attract good fortune

The most anticipated holiday of the year — Chinese New Year — is just around the corner. From February 1 to February 24, 2013, Hong Kong Disneyland will launch a brand-new celebration event. Using pure gold tones that symbolize wealth and good luck, the park kicks off the festivities with “Golden Year, Golden Blessings.” As soon as visitors enter the park, they’ll be greeted by the dazzling Mickey Mouse Golden Boulder; “Main Street, U.S.A.” takes on a whole new golden look. Strolling down the gleaming “Main Street, U.S.A.,” guests will find charming golden Mickey Mouse New Year decorations lining both sides. The park will also be giving out red envelopes from the first to the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, filling visitors’ bags with chocolate gold coins and bringing prosperity along with them. In addition, ten “gold-seeking” hotspots are set up throughout the park.

In the newly opened “Grizzly Gulch” area, the exciting and fun “Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars” will take riders through a gold-filled town full of treasures. Meanwhile, the “Gold Pan” also displays lucky gold stones for guests to seek good fortune. Finally, head to “Fountain Plaza” to get splashed and boost your luck, in pursuit of the auspicious saying “prosperity comes with water!” Upon entering “Toy Story Land,” hop on the 27-meter-high “RC Racer” and the super fun “Toy Soldier Parachute Drop” to send your wealth soaring and experience “gold falling from the sky.” Then jump on the “Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin” for a turn of good luck. And of course, don’t miss Hong Kong Disneyland’s most famous “Happily Ever After” fireworks show to welcome a bright and brilliant new year.
